Dr. B. V. Ravishankar

Dr. B. V. Ravishankar holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru. He completed his M.E. and B.E. in Civil Engineering from UVCE, Bangalore University, Bengaluru.

He is an accomplished academic leader with over 37 years of experience in teaching, research, and higher education administration. He is currently serving as the Principal of Cambridge Institute of Technology, K. R. Puram, Bengaluru. Previously, he served as the Principal of Nagarjuna College of Engineering and Technology, Bengaluru, and has held several senior academic and administrative positions including Principal of BMS College of Engineering, BMS Evening College of Engineering, Vice-Principal, Dean, and other leadership roles.

Dr. Ravishankar also served as the Principal of Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bengaluru from 2010 to 2013, where he played a key role in strengthening the institution and positioning it among the leading engineering colleges in the city. Under his leadership at BMS College of Engineering, the institution achieved NAAC A++ accreditation with a CGPA of 3.83, one of the highest in India, and secured NBA Tier-1 accreditation for all postgraduate programs.

During his tenure at NCET, he facilitated the mobilization of ₹2+ crore in external funding through AICTE IDEA Lab, Drone Lab, ATAL FDPs, VGST, and KSCST projects. He significantly strengthened the research ecosystem with 300+ publications and over 200 patents filed, expanded student intake from 702 to 1,132, and introduced new academic programs in IoT & Cybersecurity, MCA, and BCA. He also led the organization of major cultural and academic events such as Kalarava and VTU Yuvotsava, with budgets of up to ₹1 crore.

His leadership resulted in key institutional recognitions including NAAC A+ Grade, NBA accreditation for CSE and ECE, inclusion in the NIRF Innovation Ranking (150–300 band), and an IIC 3-Star rating. He has also been instrumental in strengthening IQAC processes, industry collaborations, internships, research policies, alumni engagement, NCC activities, sports initiatives, and NPTEL certifications.

Dr. Ravishankar has guided 2 Ph.D. scholars, 2 M.Sc. (Engg. by Research) scholars, 20+ M.Tech. projects, and 60+ undergraduate projects. He has published and presented extensively at national and international forums, organized and chaired conferences, FDPs, and workshops, and delivered 70+ motivational and academic talks across Karnataka, including invited lectures on NAAC, NBA, and NEP-2020.

He has served as Chairman of the VTU LIC Committee, a member of Academic Senates and Governing Councils, and currently advises 10+ engineering institutions in Karnataka. He is actively associated with professional bodies such as the Indian Geotechnical Society, ISTE, and the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, and has served as a Board of Examiners for UVCE, VTU, and DSCE.

His contributions have been recognized with several honors, including the Best Teacher Award from Rotaract Club, Bengaluru, Nada Bushana Prashasti, and the Rajyotsava Raja Ratna Prashasthi.
