Teaching Learning Methods

The Department of Information Science and Engineering employs innovative teaching methodologies to foster dynamic and effective learning environment. Various methods like workshops, seminars, and guest lectures by industry and academic experts bridge curriculum gaps and introduce students to emerging technologies. The various teaching learning process activities that are adapted by our department is described below:

  • Chalk and Board: The chalk-and-board method is a commonly used traditional approach in the teaching-learning process. It is employed to present a wide range of information, from basic equations to complex diagrams, as the visual aspect of the board helps maintain students’ focus and engagement.

  • Expert Lectures: Expert lectures are a valuable addition to the teaching and learning process, offering students unique insights and perspectives that can significantly enhance their educational
  • Skill Development Program: Skill development programs are designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application. They focus on developing specific skills that are relevant to a particular industry or profession. Our department is actively engaged in organizing many skill development programs which include technical skills like coding, data analysis and soft skills like communication, teamwork.
  • Experiential Learning: Experiential learning is a powerful teaching method that emphasizes learning by doing and reflecting on those experiences. Recognizing the efficacy of experiential learning, our department has integrated this methodology into its teaching process. Students are actively involved in hands-on projects, applying their learning to the creation of tangible products or solutions. 
  •  Workshop and Guest Lectures: Workshops and guest lectures are valuable teaching and learning methods that offer unique benefits to students. Our department has organized many workshops and guest lecturers which focus on skill development and practical application, expert insights and real-world connections. 
  • Technical Quiz / Seminars: Technical quizzes and seminars are valuable teaching and learning methods that contribute to knowledge assessment, critical thinking, communication skills, and exposure to research. Our department is actively engaged in organizing seminars which can expose students to current research and advancements in their field, broadening their understanding and keeping them up-to-date with the latest developments.
  • Online Certifications: Online certifications have emerged as a significant teaching and learning method, offering a flexible and accessible way to acquire new skills and knowledge. Our department encourage the students to do online certifications which allow them to progress at their own pace, revisiting materials as needed and focusing on areas where they need more support.

At Cambridge  Institute of Technology, the students are trained on emerging technologies through Industry collaborative programmes, Real time projects and Internship opportunities through Industry sponsored labs, participate in research activities in advanced research labs. A start up ecosystem is established at the Institute for students and faculty with mentoring, training and infrastructure support to inculcate the start up culture among the young minds. Students have ample opportunities to participate in sports and extra curricular activities. Technical competencies through various clubs at the Departments. Our goal is to develop our students as technocrats who can contribute  to the society and build a sustainable eco system.
