ISE Assessment & Evaluation
The assessment for BE in Information Science & Engineering follows a structured evaluation process comprising Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) and Semester End Examination (SEE).
The CIE component (50 marks) includes two internal tests for theory subjects, of which the average of two are considered (scaled to 30 marks), along with Course Related Activities (20 marks). For laboratory subjects, CIE (50 marks) consists of Continuous assessment (20 marks), lab tests (30 marks). Additionally, mini-projects in the third year (50 marks) and final year major projects are evaluated internally through periodic reviews and presentations.
The SEE component (50 marks) includes a theory examination conducted by the institution, typically consisting of a 100-mark paper (scaled down to 50), with a duration of three hours. The exam pattern includes short-answer and long-answer questions covering the entire syllabus. Laboratory exams are evaluated by both internal and external examiners. Final-year projects are assessed through CIE (40 marks) based on periodic evaluations, documentation, and presentations, while SEE (60 marks) includes evaluation by an external examiner through viva-voce and demonstration.
Furthermore, internships and industrial training are mandatory for final-year students, assessed through report submission, presentations, and viva, with credits assigned as per institution guidelines. A comprehensive viva-voce is also conducted in the final year, covering major subjects studied during the program. The institution follows a 10-point CGPA grading system, and to pass a subject, a student must secure a minimum of 35% in SEE and 40% overall (CIE + SEE). This structured evaluation ensures a balance between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, preparing students for industry and research-based careers.
