Teaching Learning Methods

The Department adopts various teaching methods to foster engineering education for students, in addition to conventional teaching methods.

ICT tools are an integral part of the teaching-learning process and enhance students’ engagement in classes. Platforms such as Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom, and other video conferencing applications enable real-time interaction between teachers, students, and guest speakers from across the globe.

ICT-enabled classrooms equipped with LCD projectors and smart boards help faculty effectively deliver course content. Additionally, well-equipped seminar halls support interactive sessions and presentations. Various licensed and open-source software packages are also available to enhance learning capabilities.

Faculty members utilize educational websites and YouTube channels aligned with the syllabus to foster a richer and more dynamic learning experience. Students have access to digital resources such as NPTEL, NDLI, VTU e-learning portals, e-books, and journals.

The various teaching methods adopted beyond the traditional chalk-and-talk approach include:

Experimental Learning

Laboratory work is fundamental in engineering education, providing hands-on experience that enables students to apply theoretical concepts through practical experiments. Most courses include associated lab components integrated throughout the curriculum.

Experiential Learning

Fieldwork plays a crucial role by offering real-world exposure, enhancing theory-application connection, teamwork, communication skills, technical proficiency, and professional development. This approach is implemented through:

  • Industry visits

  • Industry-based projects

  • Workshops and skill-based training

  • Industry training and internships

Problem-Based Learning (PBL)

PBL encourages students to apply their technical knowledge in practical situations. It promotes critical thinking and innovation. This method is employed in select courses and through specially introduced modules aimed at holistic student development.

Use of Simulation Tools

Advanced simulation tools create immersive learning environments where students can explore complex engineering systems safely and effectively. Tools such as PSIM, PSpice, MATLAB-Simulink, Scilab, Electrical CAD, and others are incorporated into the curriculum.

Online Certification Courses

Students are encouraged to pursue online proctored certification courses from MOOC platforms and others. With department chairman approval, these certifications can be credited directly, fostering self-paced and lifelong learning habits.

Industry Partnerships

Collaborations with industry provide students with practical exposure and hands-on experience, while industries gain fresh perspectives and potential talent. These partnerships help bridge the academia-industry gap through internships and project-based learning.

Cambridge Institute of Technology focuses on imparting quality education to all. We provide an opportunity to all our students to develop the qualities of global professionals. An academic platform through standardized teaching learning processes assist the students towards achieving academic excellence. At Cambridge  Institute of Technology, the students are trained on emerging technologies through Industry collaborative programmes, Real time projects and Internship opportunities through Industry sponsored labs, participate in research activities in advanced research labs. A start up ecosystem is established at the Institute for students and faculty with mentoring, training and infrastructure support to inculcate the start up culture among the young minds. Students have ample opportunities to participate in sports and extra curricular activities. Technical competencies through various clubs at the Departments. Our goal is to develop our students as technocrats who can contribute  to the society and build a sustainable eco system.
