Dr. G. Indumathi heads the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Cambridge Institute of Technology. She has 30 years of teaching and industry experience and has had published more than 30 papers in several national, international conferences and journals. Her research interests include computer communication networks, VLSI, multimedia communication and microprocessors.

She has organized several skill-based training and certification programmes for the benefit of students. She is responsible for implementing quality assurance systems, enhanced teaching learning process and has been instrumental in developing processes for outcome-based education in the Institution. She has served as a board member at different Universities and examiner for M. Tech and Ph.D viva voce. She has received several awards for her contribution in establishing her department as centre of Excellence.

Technical Club: Embedded Bee

An embedded system is a computer system designed to perform one or few dedicated functions often with real-time computing constraints. Embedded systems are controlled by one or more main processing cores that are typically either microcontrollers or digital signal processors (DSP). Embedded systems are having applications in all walks of life such as television, digital camera, i-phones, washing machine and automotive and so on. FPGA based reconfigurable computing and nanoscale circuit design are the latest trends of this technology. Principal areas/domains of VLSI and embedded system technology are: Materials research for VLSI, circuit simulation for design of modern VLSI circuits, mixed signal VLSI design, asynchronous systems, networking, MEMS and Bio-MEMS, system on chip design and network on chip design.

Internet is not only about connecting people, but also connects things. That is the “Internet of Things (IoT)”:  Everything that used to be disconnected, now becomes wired and intelligent. Homes, cars, cities, farms and even our bodies will be wired with sensors and will talk to each other. The definition of the Internet of things has evolved due to the convergence of multiple technologies, real-time analytics, machine learning, commodity sensors, and embedded systems.

 IoT Club is an association of Students and Staff who have passion in Design and Developing products related to the domain of Internet of Things. The goal of the club is to design and develop IoT based Smart Solutions, Systems and Applications for the welfare of the society using Arduino, Raspberry PI , Python , Android , Java , C.

Technical Club: RoboBee

It is our intention to as a vehicle to promote robotics and AI research, by offering a publicly appealing, but formidable challenge. One of the effective ways to promote science and engineering research is to set a challenging long-term goal. When the accomplishment of such a goal has significant social impact, it is called a grand challenge project. Building a robot that plays soccer will not by itself generate significant social and economic impact, but the accomplishment will certainly be considered a major achievement for the field. We call this kind of project a landmark project.

Technical Club: Signal processing

Signal processing is an area, finding application in the field of communication systems, systems engineering, electrical engineering and applied mathematics that deals with operations or analysis of analog as well as digitized signals. Signals of interest can include sound, electromagnetic radiation, images, and sensor readings, for example biological measurements such as electrocardiograms, control system signals, telecommunication transmission signals, and many others. The goals of signal processing can roughly be divided into the following categories.

Shannon Technical Forum

The Shannon Technical Forum was found in the department to facilitate and enhance the technical knowledge of students by encouraging different technical activities such as technical seminars, guest lectures, technical quizzes and tests, group discussions, paper presentations, etc.

The Department of ECE has organized various competitions under the aegis of Shannon Technical Forum since 2008. The ultimate goal of the forum is to bring forth hidden talents and promote cultural progress in the Department.

Robotics Club

Robotics club provides students with the resources to develop robots. Through the club, students are provided guidance in robotics in the form of workshops and tutorials. They are also provided the workspace, components and equipment to pursue their projects in robotics.

Electronics Club

The Electronics Club has been established to help students and faculty to get a better understanding of modern day gadgets and their utilities.

Coding Club

Coding club organizes events and share sessions from Alumni, coders, hackers, mentors. Sessions are taken by experts, coding club mentors, coding club members by inviting external experts.

Industrial visits offer a great source to gain practical knowledge. Department of ECE organizes industrial visits for the students of ECE where the students can observe and learn as to how theatrical concepts are put into action, thereby aiding their practical learning.

J C Bose Centre for research and development aims to continuously liaise with various funding agencies, R&D institutions, industries and faculty members of ECE department to facilitate undertaking of innovative research in cutting-edge areas of application & social relevance. It facilitates faculty members for interaction with scientists and experts in various fields and keeps abreast with the developments in respective areas in order to exchange ideas for development and innovation.  It promotes research culture in the department, formulates research policies, identifies thrust areas of research, provides training to young faculty members in preparing research proposals / writing technical articles and encourages interdisciplinary research.
