We are proud to announce that the “Chip to Start-up” project, valued at approximately 4.93 crores, has been sanctioned in May 2023. This significant project focuses on the development of chip-based technology for start-up companies. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed Principal Investigators, Dr. Indhumathi G, and Dr. Cyril Prasanna Raj. P, Department of ECE for their instrumental role in securing the funding for this project. Their expertise and dedication have been invaluable. Our campus has been selected as one of the innovation centers for the INTEL FPGA Lab Certification Course. This course will play a crucial role in preparing our 4th and 6th semester ECE students for Industry 4.0 and beyond. The INTEL FPGA Lab Certification Course offers a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the field of Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). We are proud to be recognized as one of the top Electronics and Communication Engineering colleges in Karnataka.

ABOUT THE HOD

Dr. Shivapanchakshari T G Head of the Department of ECE has academic interests that include Electromagnetics, Microwave Communication, Analog and Digital Communication, Antennas, and Propagation. In addition to his interest in academics, he also focuses on research in the area of Smart antennas.

He holds a B.E. degree in Electronics from Bangalore University, M.Tech degree in Digital Communication from the Visvesvaraya Technological University, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University. He has participated in various workshops and faculty development programs held by various colleges.

He has around 26 years of teaching experience,5 years of Research experience, and 2 years of industry experience. He has been associated with the Cambridge Institute of Technology since 2009. He has guided B.E. and M.Tech students in their seminars and project dissertations. He is also the cultural secretary for the Institution and successfully conducted many national-level cultural activities.

J C Bose centre for research and development aims to continuously liaise with various funding agencies, R&D institutions, industries and faculty members of ECE department to facilitate for undertaking innovative research in cutting-edge areas of application and social relevance. Research and development are integral parts of our department. The Research Committee (RC) in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), led by Dr. Girish and Dr. Usha, is actively involved in writing proposals to funding agencies to secure research grants. Their efforts have yielded positive results, as a significant project titled “Chip to Start-up” worth approximately 4.93 crores has been sanctioned during May 2023. This project likely involves the development of a chip-based technology that can be utilized by start-up companies. Furthermore, the department has made significant progress in intellectual property protection and innovation. Over the course of the last year, the ECE department has submitted nearly 45 patents, reflecting the innovative research work carried out by faculty members and students. Certification Courses

We offer certification courses under the INTEL FPGA Program at the department of ECE.The first course, Advanced Digital Design, is divided into two levels tailored for 4th and 5th semester ECE students. This course delves into advanced digital design techniques and the practical implementation of systems using FPGAs. The second course, the Remote Laboratory – Intel FPGA Real-Time Virtual Lab, targets 6th semester ECE students. Through this lab, students can remotely access an FPGA-based hardware kit using their mobile phones, enabling them to synthesize digital systems using a hardware description language. These certification courses provide valuable hands-on experience and knowledge to prepare our students for the challenges of Industry 4.0 and beyond.
