Jagruthi Sustainability Awareness Program

“Jagruthi,” an initiative by the Center for Sustainability and Executive Education at Cambridge Institute of Technology (CIT), is a monthly sustainability-focused program designed to promote awareness, inspire action, and foster community engagement. This program is aligned with the United Nations’ sustainability calendar days, addressing critical global issues through a variety of events and activities. 

Each month, “Jagruthi” will spotlight a specific sustainability theme and involve students, faculty, and staff in meaningful initiatives, such as donation drives, workshops, awareness campaigns, and practical community-focused projects. By integrating these activities into campus life, “Jagruthi” seeks to nurture a culture of sustainability while empowering students to lead positive change. 

Objectives:

  1. Create Awareness: Educate participants on global sustainability challenges and solutions.
  2. Encourage Action: Foster active involvement in community-oriented activities and initiatives.
  3. Develop Leadership: Provide opportunities for students to lead and contribute to sustainability projects.
  4. Align with Global Efforts: Support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  5. Strengthen Community Ties: Build a collaborative platform for students, faculty, and external partners to address sustainability challenges collectively. 

Outcomes:

  1. Informed Participants: A well-informed campus community with enhanced understanding of sustainability principles.
  2. Social Impact: Positive contributions to local and global sustainability through impactful initiatives.
  3. Student Empowerment: Students equipped with organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  4. Institutional Recognition: CIT is recognized as a sustainability-driven institution committed to societal impact.
  5. Collaborative Engagement: Strengthened interdepartmental cooperation and a united effort toward creating a sustainable future. 

“Jagruthi” aspires to bridge the gap between knowledge and action, enabling CIT to be a leader in sustainability education and community engagement.

An academic platform through standardized teaching learning processes assist the students towards achieving academic excellence. At Cambridge  Institute of Technology, the students are trained on emerging technologies through Industry collaborative programmes, Real time projects and Internship opportunities through Industry sponsored labs, participate in research activities in advanced research labs. A start up ecosystem is established at the Institute for students and faculty with mentoring, training and infrastructure support to inculcate the start up culture among the young minds. Students have ample opportunities to participate in sports and extra curricular activities. Technical competencies through various clubs at the Departments. Our goal is to develop our students as technocrats who can contribute  to the society and build a sustainable eco system.
