The Department established in the institution during the year 2014 boasts of distinguished faculty with specialization in almost all major areas of Civil Engineering. CITECH’s Civil Engineering programme is rated as one of the best undergraduate programs offered in Bengaluru. The passionate and experienced faculty are always open to ideas from new students. The department has State-of-the-Art Laboratories in Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering CADD, Surveying, Concrete, Geo technical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Material Testing Laboratory.

The department practices student-centered learning, where the focus of instruction is shifted from the teacher to the student, with the end goal of developing autonomous and independent students by placing the responsibility of learning in the hands of the students. The student-centric teacher learning pedagogy strengthens the fundamentals and motivates the students to think and act independently. Additionally, the department enriches students’ skills with hands-on training in cutting-edge tools such as ETabs, Revit, Q-GIS, and 3DAuto CAD. Offering value-added courses on sustainable construction practices, the department ensures that graduates are well-prepared and equipped to contribute to industry advancements and innovations. The department further supports student development through webinars, faculty development programs, conferences, seminars, and workshops, fostering a holistic learning environment for aspiring Civil Engineers. Students are encouraged to participate in Inter Institute events, Certification Courses – NPTEL, Coursera etc. The department has ICI and ISTE Student chapters and many events are being organized in association with these chapters.

The graduating students of the department have brought laurels to the Institution, both with respect curricular as well as extra-curricular activities of the University. One such feat was recently accomplished by Mr Aaquib Reyaz, who graduated from the Civil Department securing 6th Rank at the VTU level. The Department has established a good relationship with core Civil Engineering Industries and is coordinating with more than 20 top brass companies which are offering internship and placement opportunities to the students. Another feather in our cap is our multi-talented alumni who are in various topmost prestigious positions globally in different sectors like academia, research organization, industry, government bureaucrats etc. The department is also involved in providing consultancy services in the areas of Structural designs, Soil Testing and Testing of Building materials for quality and has attracted a significant amount of consultancy funding from several organizations and delivered excellent output in terms of implementable solutions. Through academic and sponsored research, our faculty members and students have published a large number of articles in peer-reviewed reputed Journals having high impact factors in the domain and received several patent grants.

Dear students, if you are looking for an innovative teaching-learning atmosphere, you are at the right place! Come and join us now and build the Nation.

Dear Students,

Greetings and hearty welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering!

The Department of Civil Engineering at Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, offers a comprehensive BE Programme that is designed to prepare students for successful careers in the field and shaping future leaders in infrastructure, construction, and sustainable development. The department takes pride in its curriculum, which is developed in collaboration with industry experts as well as experts from prestigious academic institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and NIT’s. The industry-ready curriculum equips students with the skills and knowledge required for job readiness while ensuring that they are exposed to the latest industry practices. Through a comprehensive curriculum meticulously crafted to blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, we aim to nurture the skills and expertise necessary to tackle the complex challenges of our time. At CITECH, we believe in fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration. The faculty members of the department are accomplished experts in their respective domains. Their extensive industry experience enables them to provide students with valuable insights and mentorship. Students also receive guidance pertaining to competitive exams for higher education (GATE, GRE) and government employment (IES, UPSC, KPSC). The faculty members of the department are also actively engaged in consultancy work, which helps bridge the gap between academia and industry. Students are also exposed to these consultancy projects which help them become well-prepared to tackle real-world challenges. The department is also a recognized Research centre. The department is committed to developing engineers with a rich blend of knowledge, technical competencies, and practical skills across various value-added courses within Civil Engineering. We emphasize holistic development, offering competency and skill development courses, as well as opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement.

During their tenure at the department, the students are encouraged to get hands-on experience in the corporate world through internship projects with reputed organizations. We believe that our students have been well accepted in their job profiles and have consistently exceeded expectations of the corporate world. In their curriculum they are encouraged to take up mini projects to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical experience. The Memorandums of Understanding (MoU’s) that the department has with reputed research organizations and industries enable regular field work, site visits, and research initiatives that allow students to gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of civil engineering concepts. These activities also foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

We look forward to welcoming you into our community and shaping the builders of tomorrow.
